GET YOURCAR BACK.

You know the drive. Game in forty minutes. Cleats in the back. Somebody is already tearing open a snack.

Then you hear it. The squish of a juice box. A tiny voice from the back seat: “Uh oh.”

And now it’s in the seat. In the carpet. In the seam you can’t reach. It’s going to sit there and bake in the sun until your next detail, and you’re going to smell it every single morning on the way to work.

A kid’s mess is never a “someday” problem. It’s a right-now problem. Cheese puffs ground into the floor. A shake that tipped in the cupholder. Mud up to the door panel. And the guilt of a car you used to be proud of.

Thursday night. Meet on Saturday, or a track day Sunday. You open the cabinet and it’s the same story. The glass cleaner is one squirt from empty. The good microfibers got sacrificed to the wheels. The wheel shine dried out in the bottom of the bin.

So you’re in the parts store at nine at night, staring at a wall of bottles that all promise the same thing. You’ve been through half of them. One streaked the glass. One left a glare on the dash you could see from orbit. One fogged the windshield the first time the sun hit it.

And you still have to find the time. Wash it, do the wheels, wipe the glass, get the cabin right. After work, in the dark, with a hose and a prayer.

Then you roll into the lot and the car looks good, but you know exactly where you missed. The streak in the corner of the windshield. The dust in the shifter seam. The brown on the wheel lip. Nobody else sees it. You do.

Saturday morning. The dog has been waiting at the door since six. A Front Range sunrise, a creek to splash in, a ridge to run, and not one thought about the car.

Then you open the hatch at the trailhead. Spring mud to the elbows. Red dirt in the coat. A creek-soaked retriever who has never been happier, and who is about to shake. On everything.

Colorado is the best place in the country to own a dog. It’s also brutal on a back seat. Trail dust. Snowmelt. Reservoir swims. A shedding season that never really ends. The hair gets woven into the fabric, and the wet-dog smell is in the headliner by Monday.

You wouldn’t change a thing about those weekends. But every time a coworker, a friend or a client climbs in, you’re apologizing for the car.
